Onsite Training
Sometimes the most effective software training happens when the software is being used to solve a real creative problem. For D8 Scotland, the focus was on using Figma as a practical creative and collaborative tool for developing professional pitch decks. Rather than working through a generic software syllabus, the training was built around D8’s own creative requirements, existing workflows and the development of a new modular approach to presentation design. The session brought together creative direction, presentation design and Figma workflow development, giving the team an opportunity to explore how Figma could support a more flexible and collaborative approach to agency pitching. Working directly with newly created pitch deck concepts, the training explored how individual slides could be developed into a reusable system — making it easier to create, adapt and maintain professional presentations across different clients and projects.
The sessions covered:
One of the key objectives was to move away from thinking about a pitch deck as a collection of individual slides.
Instead, the training explored how a presentation could be treated as a modular creative system.
Layouts, case studies, typography, imagery and supporting content could be structured so that elements could be reused and adapted without having to rebuild every presentation from scratch.
This approach allowed D8 to consider not only how a pitch deck looked, but how it could be designed, maintained and developed as an ongoing creative asset.
Rather than relying entirely on fictional exercises, the training used D8's own pitch deck concepts as the basis for the work.
This meant that the techniques being explored could immediately be tested against genuine creative requirements.
The result was a much more contextual learning experience — combining Figma skills with the thinking required to create persuasive, structured and visually engaging agency presentations.
The two-day session gave D8 Scotland a deeper understanding of how Figma could fit into its creative workflow, particularly when developing presentations and pitch materials collaboratively.
More importantly, the training demonstrated how Figma can move beyond simply being a UI and interface design tool and become a powerful environment for collaborative presentation design and creative production.
For D8, the project was about developing a more efficient way of thinking about pitch decks — creating a flexible system that could evolve with the agency rather than starting from a blank page every time.
