On-site
Over the course of more than a decade, I have delivered multiple onsite Adobe training engagements for police forces and police training facilities across Scotland, England and Wales. These have included Police Scotland College at Jackton, West Yorkshire Police in England, and North Wales Police, delivering training at both St Asaph Divisional Headquarters and Crud Y Dderwen. Unlike a standard classroom-based software course, these sessions were typically delivered to small groups of just one to four delegates, allowing the training to be tailored directly around the operational requirements of each team.
A significant part of this work involved helping police staff develop professional workflows for video and audio enhancement of evidential material, including footage that could ultimately be prepared for court hearings.
Using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, training covered practical approaches to working with video, improving the presentation and clarity of recorded material, editing footage, working with audio and developing efficient workflows for handling media within an evidential context.
The work required a practical understanding of the difference between creative video production and media being prepared for professional or legal purposes — with an emphasis on careful, controlled and appropriate use of editing and enhancement techniques.
At Police Scotland College in Jackton, the training expanded into creative and communications applications of Adobe software.
Premiere Pro and After Effects were used for recruitment marketing, promotional content and inmate processing communications, including the development of engaging video and animated material.
This included exploring how motion graphics, animation, editing and visual communication could be used to explain processes, communicate information and promote policing careers.
The projects have taken place across multiple occasions and over several years, supporting police staff in different roles and locations.
From court-related evidential media and video/audio enhancement to recruitment marketing, animation and inmate processing, the work demonstrates how professional Adobe workflows can be adapted to very different operational requirements.
For me, the most rewarding aspect has been working directly with specialist teams, understanding what they actually need to achieve, and then translating that into practical, hands-on training that improves their confidence and capability with professional creative software.
